The councils have made a long-term commitment to involving local people in the shaping of the new neighbourhoods and facilities and making the most of the opportunities presented by the land being in public ownership. More detail is provided below about the consultation stages undertaken to date.
Stage one: initial discussions – October 2015
Initial discussions and meetings with ward councillors in the areas surrounding Manydown, community groups, local specialist interest groups, parish councils and MPs.
The themes from this first stage of consultation were presented at the community design event in November 2015 for further comment.
Stage two: community design event - November 2015
The first of our consultation events took place in November 2015. We invited representatives of community and neighbourhood groups, as well as residents, to take part in the project team’s early work in drawing up ideas for the masterplan.
The community design event, ‘Shaping Manydown: The Place and its Community’, was held over four days with workshops on the first two days, culminating in public open days on Saturday 14 November and Sunday 15 November. These open days gathered local people’s thoughts on what had been developed through the workshop sessions.

During the community design event there was an opportunity to discuss the strategic plan for Manydown. This included consultation on the location and size of the different elements, for example: schools, housing, streets, parks, town centre – and the best way of making them work together.
Stage three: masterplan consultation - February and March 2016
The masterplan consultation period ran from Wednesday 17 February to Tuesday 29 March 2016.
At the masterplan consultation three approaches were consulted on providing different ideas as to how the masterplan could evolve. The feedback on these approaches will help inform the emerging masterplan, which will be the subject of the next consultation in September and October 2016.
In February and March 2016 we held four drop-in events; three in communities which were close to the site, and another in the town centre. At these events, the project team presented different approaches and we asked community representatives, residents and statutory consultees for feedback on these different approaches so that the best elements of each can be developed into a emerging masterplan.

Stage four: proposed masterplan consultation - September and October 2016
The proposed masterplan consultation period ran from Thursday 1 September to Thursday 13 October 2016.
At the proposed masterplan consultation the elements that make up the proposed masterplan were consulted on, prior to the submission of an outline planning application at the end of the year.
In September 2016 we held four drop-in events as we did in February and March; three in communities which were close to the site, and another in the town centre. At these events, the project team presented the proposed masterplan and we asked community representatives, residents and statutory consultees for feedback on it.
